When you reversed your vase to turn off the bottom part I was so afraid that those thin walls would crack. 😲 You seem to have the most wonderful light and delicate touch. 😊

Great outcome there Yamabiko - I was half expecting you once turning down so thin to 1/8” inch you were going to bore bottom out reversing upside down for one of Your light shades on ceiling inside👍🤓

I used to enjoy thinning. Fortunately there are no major mistakes. I want to make a flower object for the first time in a long time.

Nice job! If you are going to be doing a lot of hollowing, you may think about getting (or making) a simple right angle tool rest. This would allow you to support the tool closer to the cut while inside a vessel reducing chatter. Cheers!

      thank you for your comment!
This time, the amount of tools protruding from the tool post was close to 6 inches. In addition, since a long object was held only by the chuck, many vibrations occurred. My work will soon be a few days off, so make a 3-point stady and right-angle tool rest! Thank you for teaching me!

You obviously like turning thin walled pieces, I believe some would be just as nice a little thicker, still admire your skill.

I don't think I will make very thin works once they are sold. These are entertainment, but it seems that few turners make thin pieces.

I think what you say is correct.
I am still studying, but feel that I need more knowledge of how to cut than sharpening.
Some people use similar tools to cut many times more accurately than me.

That deep hollowing I use a boring bar mounted in the tool post of my engine lathe. I still hand the tool the outside of the work piece but hollowing I use a boring bar with tool steel with a radius edge. If I tried to to hand tool the inside of a bowl or vase on my engine lathe it would not stall it would keep going and cause me serious injury. My lathe has a 7 HP motor that runs on 220 3-phase which is the same that my dad's CNC milling machine runs on and he has a phase converter.

      Thank you for your comment!
I didn't know much about CNC machines, but they have the power of 7HP.
      I was surprised!
If I can make the inside of the vase accurately and quickly, I think there is not much point in doing it manually like I do.
I have to do it by hand because I can't afford such a luxury machine.
